Beauty box review: Sophistiqué.

The SOPHISTIQUÉ beauty box launched recently offering five high-end quality cosmetic products in original or travel size.  The box that it comes in is lovely, with the products nestled between two silky pillows along with the info booklet and a welcome card.

Unlike Pink Box and similar monthly beauty boxes, this quarterly luxury box costs CHF75.00. Here’s what I thought of the contents: img_2156

Lancôme La Vie est Belle Eau de Parfum – Original size 30ml for CHF 77.90

Received 4ml costing approx CHF 10.38

La Vie Est Belle, French for “life is beautiful”, represents a choice—the choice to create your own path to happiness.

This is not my style of perfume, I found it too sweet and the florals overbearing on first application. By the end of the day though, the scent was barely noticeable.

Valmont Prime Renewing Pack – Original size 50ml for CHF 205.00

Received 15ml costing approx CHF 61.56

Instant rebalancing mask. This makeover treatment immediately reveals the glow of healthy skin and improves the complexion day after day.

I didn’t notice any remarkable difference after using this mask. I’ve only used it twice, so perhaps with continued used it might show results. As for now, I wouldn’t spend so much money on it.

Molton Brown Dewy Lily of the Valley & Star Anise Hand Cream

 – Original size 40ml for approx. CHF 17.00

Received full size costing CHF 17.00

An indulgent hand cream, that you can keep in your bag as a treat on-the-go. The floral aromas of lily of the valley, magnolia and ylang-ylang blend perfectly with the sweet note of star anise leaving the skin gloriously scented.

As someone who obsessively washes her hands multiple times a day, I can always do with anther tube of hand cream, I’ve been a long time fan of Molton Brown, with the Suma Ginseng shower gel as my regular favourite. This hand cream has a pleasant fragrance and absorbs quickly into the skin not leaving any oily residue. I’ll be buying this again.

Bio Effect EGF Serum – Original size 15ml for approx. CHF 198.00

Received 3ml costing approx CHF 39.60

Preservatives and additive free, Fragrance, alcohol and oil-free as well as hypoallergenic and cruelty-free. This wonder anti-aging serum has been on the market since 2010.

I’ve read lots of great reviews of this serum but as I just started a new regimen, this will have to wait for me to test. I’ll certainly be reporting on the results if I notice any.

Marula Oil Rare Oil Intensive Masque

Original size 200ml for approx. CHF 70.00

Received 50ml costing approx CHF 17.50

Intensively hydrating hair masque infused with rare, cold-pressed marula oil.

By far one of my favourite products in the box. I’ve used it twice now and each time I’ve been impressed. The masque is nourishing and quite obviously moisturising, It surprised me when my hair was practically tangle free after towel drying it, There was no oily residue and my hair was soft and manageable during and after drying. I will definitely be purchasing this again!!

Was the box worth it?

From a cost perspective, sure! The total value of the products received is approximately CHF140.00. As with other boxes like this,  I got to try out new products that I may not have bought previously. This is the ‘luxury’ version, so I’m looking forward to seeing what they offer in the next box!  Sign up for the next box on the SOPHISTIQUÉ site.
