Zurich: Babu's Bakery & Coffeehouse

I found myself with 90 minutes to spare on Saturday (June 4), after an appointment at Xing Lin TCM and before my pedi with the lovely Sabina at Summer Beauty Cosmetic. Both appointments were conveniently on either side of Löwenstrasse, so I decided to visit a bakery I knew near the top of the street for a coffee and croissant. Much to my surprise the bakery was no longer there and I walked in on the opening of the new Babu’s Coffeeshop and Bakery. I was a bit confused as I walked in but was greeted by friendly wait-staff who explained the menu of fresh salads, breads, quiche and homemade ice tea’s that I was quickly at ease and waiting on a freshly made chicken salad with “house-sauce” and berry ice tea.

The food was fresh, made to order and yummy!(They were very accommodating with my food allergies, adjusting the salad to my needs.) I particularly enjoyed the vegetable bread and the delicious coffee to finish off the meal (the are 25 coffee variations to choose from!)  The decor, crockery and the finishing touches like newspapers and coffee table books makes you feel like you’re relaxing at home (albeit with better coffee), making Babu’s one of my new favourite lunch spots and a places to meet up with friends.
