Mask of the week 2/52

This week’s mask comes from beauty supplier Peggy Sage. The Caviar Extract Mask, is claimed to be anti-aging and smoothing.

The fiber mask is thin and covers the face well. It’s also heavily saturated, so much so that the serum dripped off the mask when taking it out of the pouch. Because it fitted so well, it didn’t feel like it would fall off, so it was really comfortable. As recommended, I left it on for 15 minutes and after taking off the mask, I massaged the remaining serum into my skin. My skin felt soft and plumped. It certainly felt hydrated, though I can’t say I noticed lessening of any lines. Hopefully, the intensive moisturising will have a long term effect?

I was intrigued by the idea of caviar extract in beauty, as its the first time I use it. We all have heard of companies like La Mer and La Prairie who have built their brands around using marine derived ingredients in their products. In their more than 30 year research, La Prairie found  that the caviar extract not only enhances the production of collagen in fibroblast cells, but it also boosts epidermal skin cells’ production of ceramides (the natural lipids that help skin retain moisture and give it a nice, glowy sheen).

Have you tried any caviar or marine-based products? What was your experience like?
